4. Superelastic applications, such as springs, terminals, and eyeglass frames.
Memory alloys are particularly suitable for heat engines and constant temperature automatic control. At room temperature, it is made into an automatic opening and closing arm. Vents can open during sunny days and automatically close at night when the room temperature drops. There are many design schemes for alloy heat engines, all of which can work between two media with very small temperature differences. This opens up a new path for the utilization of industrial cooling water, nuclear reactor residual heat, ocean temperature difference, and solar energy. The current widespread problem is low efficiency, only 4%~6%, which needs further improvement.

Taking a spring made of shape memory alloy as an example, if it is placed in hot water, the length of the spring will immediately lengthen, and then placed in cold water, it will immediately recover. Shape memory alloy springs can be used to control the water temperature of bathroom faucets. When the hot water temperature is too high, the "memory" function can be used to adjust or close the water supply pipe to avoid scalding. It can also be made into fire alarm devices and safety devices for electrical equipment. When a fire occurs, the spring made of shape memory alloy will deform and activate the fire alarm device to achieve the purpose of alarm. A spring made of shape memory alloy can also be placed in a heating valve to maintain the temperature of a greenhouse, automatically opening or closing the heating valve when the temperature is too low or too high.
