Characteristics of NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloy

  (1) Shape Memory

  After a certain heat treatment, NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys will automatically recover their shape. This change is the shape memory characteristic of NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys. Shape memory can be divided into one-way shape memory, two-way shape memory, and full shape memory according to the recovery condition.

  (2) Superelasticity

  When subjected to external forces, NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys will deform. After the external force is removed, they will return to their original state. This is the superelasticity characteristic of NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys. When superelastic deformation occurs in NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys, it will directly lead to martensitic phase transformation, and the removal of external force will lead to reverse martensitic phase transformation.

  (3) Damping

  NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys have very good damping properties due to the self-adjustment of phase transformation and the interfaces and movement generated during phase transformation.

  (4) Electrical Resistance

  In the martensitic NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloy, during deformation, there is a linear relationship between its resistance and strain. After the phase transformation occurs, the slope of the curve will decrease, but a linear relationship will also be maintained before and after the martensitic phase.
