Characteristics of NiTinol-Titanium Shape Memory Alloy

  1. Damping Performance

NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys exhibit excellent damping properties due to the self-regulation of phase transformation and the interfaces and movement generated during the phase transformation process.

  2. Electrical Resistance

The relationship between electrical resistance and strain during the deformation process of martensitic NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys is linear. When a phase transformation occurs, the slope of the curve decreases, but the linear relationship remains unchanged before and after the martensite phase.

  3. Shape Memory

After a certain heat treatment, NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys will automatically recover their shape. This change is the shape memory characteristic of NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys. According to the recovery situation, shape memory can be divided into one-way shape memory, two-way shape memory, and overall shape memory.

  4. Superelasticity

When subjected to external forces, NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys will deform and recover to their original state after the removal of external forces. This is the superelastic characteristic of NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys. Superelastic deformation of NiTinol-titanium shape memory alloys will lead to martensitic phase transformation, and the absence of external force will in turn lead to reverse martensitic phase transformation.
